Fittings usually begin around 10 weeks before your wedding date. Ideally at this point, you should be at the weight you wish to be on your wedding day. Some brides will only need 2 or 3 fittings but if there are more complicated alterations to be made or lots of style changes, 4 or 5 fittings may be needed, however this is quite rare.
Your first fitting should take around 1 hour. You are welcome to bring people with you, but please bear in mind that the studio is quite small, so groups of more than 3 is a bit of squeeze!
You will need to have your wedding shoes with you and anything you may wish to wear underneath your dress that could have an effect on the fitting. It is often a good idea to bring several options to see which works best.
I can advise you on a petticoat if your dress requires one, and these can be ordered on the day.
I will discuss with you about what you would like done and I will help you into your dress. I will then start to pin so that you can start to get a feel for how your dress will look and feel. This is a great time to discuss any stylistic changes that you may wish to have made.
There is usually a small amount of time at the end of the fitting for accessories to be tried, these can also be ordered on the day.
There is usually a period of 2-3 weeks before your next fitting.
At this fitting you will try your dress again and we will check that we are happy with all the alterations that have been made. More pinning may be required. this fitting usually takes 30-45 minutes.
After another 2-3 weeks you will come back for your 3rd and usually final fitting. At this point your dress should be finished. This is a great opportunity for you to have a practice getting dressed with whoever you have chosen to help you on the day.
You may wish to take your dress home with you after your final fitting or you are welcome to collect your dress a little closer to the Wedding date.
If you require your dress to be steamed/pressed prior to you collecting it, I can arrange this for you at a charge of £25.
Please arrive on time for your fittings, this includes being too early. I am very busy and generally fully booked most days so please respect the bride being fitted before you by not arriving too early for your own fitting.
